Flannery Animal Hospital helps raise awareness for local animal shelters!

Nationally 60% of dogs and 70% of cats who enter animal shelters are euthanized. Statistically, the animals who find themselves living in an animal shelter are evenly divided between those that are strays and those who were surrendered by their owners. Flannery Animal Hospital has made it part of their mission to raise awareness for local shelters and ultimately help save some of those animals by finding them a loving home. “The Flannery Animal Hospital annual bowl-a-thon at Colonial Lanes was conceived, organized and coordinated by the dedicated and caring Flannery Animal Hospital staff.” states Dr. Frank Puccio the practice’s co-owner. He continues “We have a simple mission…to promote adoptions and to raise funds for strays.”

A donation of $20 along with an item for the shelter (dog / cat toys, food, litter or cleaning supplies are needed) will give you two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, soda and tons of fun. The event will include live music, pet photos, games, raffles, give-a-ways, bake sale items and a demonstration by the City of Newburgh Police Department K-9 unit. One of the event’s organizers Theresa Dougherty LVT, had this to say “This event is about reaching inside your hearts to raise money that can make the difference between life and death for the shelter animals that may never find a home. Hopefully, the shelters will gain the respect and the support they need for doing a job that few appreciate. In the end, it is purely about that animal inside that cage….and giving them a chance.”

All proceeds go to benefit local animal shelters. Participants include: Beacon Barkery, Blooming Grove Humane Society, Pets Alive, Walden Humane Society, Warwick Humane Society, Northern Bear and Warwick Dog Park.
