Laparoscopic Spay is here!

24/7 vet clinic poster with little boy and golden retreiver puppy

We know how much of a love bug your pet is to you and your family, which is why even something as routine as spaying can be stressful for everybody. We want you and your pet to feel as comfortable as possible. That’s why we are now offering Laparoscopic Spay. This minimally invasive procedure will shorten the time it takes for her to heal, reduce her pain, and ease your worry!

You’ve probably heard of laparoscopic surgery used on humans. It’s been around for years and is finally available for veterinary medicine. Compared to traditional surgery, laparoscopic spay can really make a difference to your pet’s overall comfort and health.

Unlike traditional surgery, there’s less cutting. Instead of a 2 to 3-inch incision into the abdomen, one small incision, usually less than 1-inch, is made. The organs are viewed using a state-of-the-art camera system, while the surgeon watches a video screen to maneuver the tools and remove the ovaries. This is called an ovariectomy.

With less cutting there’s less tissue damage, which means less pain and faster healing for your pet. It’s also easier on her afterwards with reduced chances for post-operative complications.

How can you know if laparoscopic spay is right for your pet? A consultation with one of our veterinarians can help you decide. At Flannery Animal Hospital, we share in the love you have for your pet and are committed to providing the optimum in care. We know, the sooner your pet gets back to her lovable, active self the better everyone will feel! For your laparoscopic spay consult, give us a call 845-565-7387.
