Orthopedic problems are those that involve bones, joints, ligaments and muscles. There are many orthopedic conditions our pets may experience. Once we have diagnosed what the problem is, we can develop a treatment plan for your pet whether it is casting, rehabilitation, surgery or a combination of treatments.
We have the digital radiology equipment in house to diagnose a variety of conditions such as:
- Crainial Cruciate Ligament CCL
- Anterior Cruciate Ligament ACL
- Femoral head and neck ostectomies
- Osteochondrosis dissecan OCD
- Orthopedic and neurological conditions
- Degenerative joint, neurologic or neuromuscular diseases
- Muscle injuries or strains
Flannery Animal Hospital believes in a multi-model approach to pain relief. We combine the use of medicines such as anti-inflammatory and opiods (pain-killers) with lifestyle changes such as a modified diet or physical rehabilitation with non-traditional remedies such as therapeutic laser treatments and acupuncture. Our veterinarians will prepare a pain management plan that is best for the circumstances surrounding your pet’s condition.
Pets with orthopedic conditions can benefit from our physical therapy (or rehabilitation) programs. Flannery Animal Hospital’s programs include a sessions with a certified rehabilitation practitioner in our hydrotherapy tank. For more information click here to visit our Physical Rehabilitation page.
